Mesclun Mixes: 4 Must-Grow Super Greens

Apart from being one of the largest wine producers in the world, France is also “guilty” for producing somewhere between 350 and 450 distinct types of cheese. In addition, due to their geographic position and favorable climate, French people are responsible for another great contribution to human cuisine. I’m talking about salad mesclun mixes, which originated in Provence. Personally, I am crazy about mesclun mixes because they are packed with vitamins and interesting to grow. Check out my list of 4 must-grow healthy super greens.

Salad Mesclun Mixes are Nutritious and Colorful

Planting Baby Brussels sprouts

I’m a huge fan of growing baby vegetables. They are small, delicate and succulent. Basically, most baby vegetables are ready for harvest before they reach their full size. The situation with baby Brussels sprouts is a bit different.

Baby Brussels sprouts belong to the group of baby vegetables that are formed after the main crop has been harvested. I love growing them for their earthy flavors and bittersweet notes.

How to Grow Baby Cabbage

You know I’m not running a blog page about scientific studies and researches related to health but I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to share some beneficial info about cabbage with you.

Namely, I found information that more than 475 studies have examined the role of cabbage in cancer prevention. Now, in terms of growing baby cabbage, I prefer growing early varieties like Zora and Golden Acre.

In general, you should know that cabbage is an excellent source of vitamins C, K and B6. It is also rich in manganese, potassium, copper, folate and dietary fiber.

Your Children’s Choice Would Probably Be a Radish Variety

My kids like all kids, love to play and get their hands dirty. That’s one of the reasons why they love to spend time with me in my vegetable garden.

They have never-ending questions about gardening and why I do this or how I do that, but I never get bored talking about gardening with them.

In one of those chitchats I found out that my youngsters are very fond of radishes. Radishes are technically not counted as greens, but my kids are particularly interested in learning more about growing colorful varieties such as mini radish Viola and bicolor organic mini radish Gaudry 2.

Kohlrabi is Rich in Essential Vitamins and Minerals

Do you also have a feeling that nature is a perfect planner? Well, that’s at least what I think. I mean, consider the fact that vegetables, fruits and herbs are almost equally spread around the world.

And those plants have vitamins, minerals, they have it all. They are the engine of the living world. Plants come in different sizes, colors, tastes and nutrition values. In fact, plants are our true doctors.

If you have high cholesterol you should grow and eat kohlrabi since this veggie has zero cholesterol and is loaded with vitamin C.

As always, let me know if you need any additional info regarding growing micro greens!
