Adaptability is by
far the most important precondition for the survival of all living beings on our
planet, including plants. As I mentioned when I wrote about tomato sizes, colors and flavors,
tomato is for sure one of the world’s most popular and widespread garden plants.
But despite of the fact that most tomato varieties thrive in various climate
zones and weather conditions, not all tomato varieties are able to adapt to super
coldness or scorching heat. Read more if you wish to find out what are my 3 top
tips for growing tomatoes in hot, humid climates.

1. Choose the Most Suitable and Heat & Humid Resistant Tomato
Variety
Yes, it all starts here. If you know
that your tomato will be dealing with humid weather conditions, then grow a
variety that is able to make it. Mini tomato Duo and orange dwarf tomato Venus are heat resistant tomato varieties
and therefore highly recommendable for growing in hot weather conditions.
2. Indoors vs. Outdoors
Some tomato varieties like red determinate Chico III are good for growing outside and
inside green houses, while red dwarf tomato Vilma is my personal recommendation for
growing at home, on a windowsill or a balcony. In case you’d like to learn more
about pros and cons of indoor and outdoor growing, check out my post growing indoors vs. outdoors:what's better.
3. Well-Drained Soil is a Must
Of course, your tomato will die if
you don’t water it. But watering doesn’t mean that you should turn it into an
Olympic champion in swimming. So, keep your soil moist, but not soggy. Remember
to avoid over-watering
since it’s one of the main causes of suffering of your plants.
In case things don’t work out well
in your garden and you don’t know what do to, let me know and I’ll try to help!
