Easy Gardening: How to Grow Determinate Tomato Varieties

If you’re looking for tomato varieties that can bring you a lot of fruits at the same time, you’ve found them. They are called determinate tomatoes and you’ll love them in your sauces and cans. But the thing that I love the most about determinate tomatoes is that they are perfect for growing indoors in pots or containers.

Funny-Shaped Determinate Tomato Will Make Everyone Smile

Don’t Prune Your Determinate Tomatoes

Yes, that’s right. Indeterminate tomatoes need pruning. Determinate don’t need it. What’s more, if you prune determinate tomatoes, the chances are high that you’ll decrease their crop.

Depending upon the weight of the fruit on the plant, determinate tomatoes sometimes need staking and support. Some of the most delicious and easiest determinate tomatoes that I’ve grown and tasted are Chico III, Petomech, Sabala, Brooklyn H and Seijk.

Grow Them Hydroponically

Determinate tomatoes top off at a specific height and they often resemble a soldier unit. You know - same heights and haircuts. For this reason, determinate tomatoes are popular for indoor hydroponic growing. They are almost the same height, taste wonderful and look nice.

Pizza Wouldn’t be the Same without Tomatoes

I’ve come to the point where I think no one could neglect the vital importance of tomatoes - and that point is called making a pizza. Namely, tomatoes are an important ingredient of the Italian pizza, one of the world’s most famous dishes. There’s a debate on the matter of which tomato is the best for use when making pizza, but most people I’ve talked to agree that the delicious determinate San Marzano variety is absolutely perfect for the purpose.

Delicious and Easy to Grow: Dwarf Tomatoes Will Fascinate You

“Oh, look, they are so small and cute”! This is probably the first line one says when seeing dwarf tomatoes for the first time. After consuming and growing them, it just gets better.

I happen to know both gardeners and non-gardeners who are great fans of dwarf tomatoes due to two main advantages:

-Dwarf tomatoes are easy to grow, especially in pots;
·               -Dwarf tomatoes are tasty, sweet, fruity and tangy.

Whether you have a lack of indoor growing space or simple don’t know how to start, you shouldn’t despair. You’ll be fascinated by the easiness of growing dwarf tomatoes. Keep reading to find out why.

Dwarf Tomatoes are the Champions of Taste

Down to the Smallest Tomato Variety

Cherry tomatoes like Sun Gold H are among the most famous dwarf tomato varieties. They are extremely popular in cooking because of their unique super flavored taste and decorative looks. Dwarf tomato varieties that I really adore are orange Venus and red Alka, Betalux, Roma VF and Marglobe.

By the way, did you know that the world’s smallest tomato varieties produce fruits at a size of a marble? These micro varieties, which are up to 40 times lighter than, for example, the Duo tomato variety, are often preceded by the word mini in their names. Just imagine a spoon full of tiny tomatoes. Lovely idea, isn’t it?

Dwarf Tomatoes are Made for Hydroponic Growing

Well, they’re not literally made for it, but are very suitable for it by all means. Hydroponic cherry tomatoes (any dwarf tomato variety will do) are among the best types of tomatoes to grow indoors. Why? It’s because they are easy to grow and they give abundant yields.

All you need is a balcony or a windowsill, quality nutrient solution or growing media (my advice is to get a hydroponic started kit), tomato seeds from your trusty seed supplier combined with the package of some efforts and good will.

If you’d like to learn more about hydroponics I advise you to read my post vertical farming - sky's the limit.
